Happy New Year To All Fencers

It’s that time of year again! The calendar has crawled past the 31st of December and we all wake up full of resolution to face bravely into a new year.  So let’s raise a glass, or even a sword, to all that 2012 has to offer.  And don’t worry about the end of the world, it may never happen!

Hopefully, I’ll be back blogging in the coming days.  In the meantime, for those who can’t wait to get back fencing the Modern Pentathletes are running a competition this Saturday 7 January 2012 – full details here http://www.mpaireland.com/.

I won’t be able to make it as I’ll be spending the previous evening celebrating James Joyce and his seminal short story The Dead at a fundraiser dinner in aid of Sweny’s Pharmacy, possibly the most atmospheric Joycean centre in Dublin.  I expect not to be in condition to wield a sword on the Saturday.
